The mystery of the empty shore, soon to be covered by the incoming tide.
The surface has many layers of paint telling a story of the journey from beginning to end. Creation and destruction like the story of the sea and shore.

Some things are never meant to be explained. I turned this painting to get a photograph and saw the mark at the top resembling a figure. Now I shall always look for it. I leave the viewer to fill in the rest of the story.

This painting grew from random marks over a warm underpainting. As it progressed I noticed my love of wild places had a strong influence here.

Might be memories of the Lincolnshire coastline. This piece was changed over and over until I was happy with the outcome.

The Lincolnshire land is not all flat. It is a county with many features. A play on abstraction without a direct reference to a place.

I like this suggestion of a city skyline. Random marks set the scene with a darker palette and highlights of colour.

This strong dark painting has a sense of nighttime. Possibly a city.

The sense of nature at twilight. I nearly threw this canvas out...but something about the hidden marks made me keep it. It has a mysterious feeling.

An 'urban landscape' made with a dark palette over a light underpainting. It became a study in shapes and backlighting. I like the suggested shapes of buildings.
